The motivation for physical exercise among adolescents has become a significant issue, especially in the modern era where technological advancements tend to shift their attention from physical activities towards a more sedentary lifestyle. Many adolescents lack strong motivation to participate in sports, despite being aware of its health benefits. The potential of counseling to address this motivational problem is still underutilized. The problem statement of this study is how counseling can be used to enhance exercise motivation among adolescents by minimizing psychological, social, and environmental barriers. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach. It is a descriptive exploratory study, focusing on analyzing theories and previous research related to adolescent exercise motivation and counseling interventions. Data were collected through the review of relevant academic sources from the past five years. The results show that the low exercise motivation among adolescents is influenced by factors such as technology, a lack of awareness of the long-term benefits of exercise, and psychological and social barriers. Counseling, particularly through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), goal setting, and social support, has proven effective in enhancing exercise motivation. School counseling programs are also seen as crucial in creating an environment that supports adolescents' involvement in physical activities. Counseling plays a significant role in increasing adolescents' motivation to exercise. With the right approach and comprehensive support, counselors can help adolescents overcome motivational barriers and encourage their consistent participation in physical activities in a sustainable manner.
