This study examines the role of guidance and counseling in helping athletes manage pre-competition anxiety through a literature review method. Various factors contributing to athlete anxiety, such as pressure from spectators, demands froam coaches, fear of failure, risk of injury, and low self-confidence, are identified as key triggers. To address this anxiety, several strategies are applied, including competitive, cognitive, somatic techniques, relaxation, and self-regulation. Guidance and counseling, particularly through the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach, play a significant role in helping atlete recognize and modify negative thought patterns, as well as develop self-control skills. This approach effectively reduces anxiety, enhances calmness, and improve athlete performance under competitive pressure.
