Abstract

Through short-distance running learning, it is hoped that students will be more attentive, happy and motivated and more diligent in the material provided. Based on initial observations, it is known that the short distance running skills at the Timika Adventist Middle School are still not optimal. There are still many students who are not happy, find it difficult and heavy in doing short distance running movements, don't pay attention and even laze around in learning. This study aims to improve the ability to run short distances, especially the 80 m sprint, after doing a play model. The instruments used in this study were observation sheets, documentation and questionnaires. This study used the Class Action Research (CAR) method. The population in this study was class VIII SMP Advent Timika and the sample in this study consisted of 20 students which were divided into 12 male students and 8 female students. Through the play method, students carry out short-distance running lessons. This is very important considering that many students are not happy, pay less attention in learning short distance running. In this study, the researcher collaborated with the teacher of the Adventist Middle School in Timika to plan a learning action that lasted for 2 cycles. The results showed that the students' ability to learn short distance running of class VIII SMP Advent Timika increased. The results of the first cycle of the psychomotor aspect were 77% and the second cycle increased to 91%. The affective aspect of the first cycle was 92.4% in the second cycle to 94.3%. The cognitive aspect of the first cycle was 63%, the second cycle increased to 67%. The results of the first cycle of student questionnaires were 86%, the second cycle increased to 88%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that learning short distance running with a play model can improve the ability to learn basic running movements, and can increase student enthusiasm, student enthusiasm, student activity and the learning process is fun so as to improve student grades in class VIII SMP Advent Timika. For teachers, there is a need for innovation and creativity in the delivery of material in the learning process. For students, after participating in short distance running lessons with a play model, it is hoped that they will be more interested in participating in other physical education lessons, especially in the running branch.
