Abstract

Conceptual understanding is the ability to understand and know correctly about concepts, operations and relations in mathematics so that students are able to retell the knowledge they have acquired in their own words both in spoken and written form to other people so that other people really understand.  what was said.  Based on the results of the analysis of the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts with a total of 10 questions (essays) given to 24 students.  It was found that the number of students who were able to answer the questions correctly was 83.3%, namely numbers 1 and 4. The number of students who were unable to answer the questions correctly 100% were students 2, 3, 7 and 8.  This shows that the ability to understand mathematical concepts in class VIII students of SMP N 4 Sanonggoang is still low.
