Abstract

The purpose of this study is 1) to explore the profile of metacognition in solving mathematical problems in terms of reflective type tempo cognitive style. 2) exploring metacognition profile in solving mathematical problems in terms of tempo conceptual cognitive style of impulsivity. The type of research used in this study is descriptive qualitative research. Taking research subjects using the Matching Familiar Figures Test (MFFT) test sheet. Data collection on research subjects based on problem solving test sheets and interview guidelines. Subjects in this study were one student who had a reflective type cognitive style and one student who had an impulsive type of cognitive style in solving questions in the material of Two Variable Equation Systems (SPLDV). Reflective type cognitive styles tended to use more time to respond and reflect on the accuracy of answers . Reflective individuals are very slow and careful in responding, but tend to give answers correctly. While the impulsive type of cognitive style tends to respond quickly, but not so carefully that the answers tend to be wrong. Based on the results of the study show that students who are reflexive cognitive style in solving mathematical problems carry out all indicators in each metacognition activity which includes planning, monitoring implementation, and evaluating actions. Students who are cognitively reflective at the stage of problem solving, especially at the stage of preparing a plan, reflective subjects think more about the plans that will be carried out in solving the problem by looking at the existing solutions. While students who impulsive cognitive style in solving mathematical problems only implement several indicators for each metacognition activity. Students who are impulsive cognitive style make decisions quickly without thinking deeply so that the final results of the settlement are less likely to be inappropriate.
