This classroom action research aims to improve student learning outcomes by using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in class XI.1 SMA Methodist 2 Palembang. This study uses a scientific approach consisting of two cycles with each cycle consisting of four stages, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. The research subjects were 29 students in class XI.1 and the object of research was the learning outcomes of students. The data analysis technique uses quantitative so that the results of the first cycle research show that the average value of students' mathematics learning outcomes in matrix material is 72.6 with classical completeness of 72% continued in cycle II and experiences an increase in the average value of learning outcomes is 87.4 with 90% classical completeness. Based on the results of the study it was concluded that the PBL learning model can improve student learning outcomes in class
